Wii and Frank
I'm in Frankfurt Germany this week.
Why? No reason.. just have a week to kill and had an offer to fly for almost free. So its a mini vacation but I have to control spending as it is spiraling out of control. I will do alot of walking in Germany I think to save money. The $ to Euro rates are also killing me.
A big accomplishment in my life this year is that I scored a perfect 300 in Wii bowling. I found I was doing quite well casually playing this over the past week and after consistently getting 7-8 strikes a game I felt I should be able to do it. But alas.. I had 3-4 games where I had 9 strikes in a row and then goofed on the 10th frame. I vowed to get a 300 before leaving the USA. Then I said nah screw it, I am happy w/ my 279 score (11/12 strikes).
The key to life is being satisified with what you have!
But I still desired 300, so I went for it, and did it!! Haha!!!
It poses the question though.. should we be satisified so easily in life? If humanity were so easily satisifed then there would be little drive for invention and innovation. If we were happy walking everywhere then why would someone invent a bicycle, car, or airplane? Obviously we should have some dis-satisfaction, or better put, some desire for higher achievement. It is a blurred line between being unsatisified and striving for more or are the two completely different? While I can say I am happy with what I have in life, I can also say I strive for a heck of alot more.
Do you remember what Li Mu Bai said in Crouching Tiger: "The things we can touch have no permanence. My master would say there is nothing we can hold onto in this world. Only by letting go can we truly possess what is real."
Or what Maximus said in Gladiator: "Strength and Honor."
I strive to live as did Maximus. Not sure if I can live like Li Mu Bai and truly escape materialism.
